We are to walking, what Parkrun is to runners. A gentle meander, with the community, in nature. It’s as simple as that.
We launched Soulwalk in 2019. Whatever age, whatever ability. We welcome all. Bring the dog, yourself, the kids. Just come and connect with others. With nature.
In general, we like to start at 9.30am and walk for approx. 3kms (more or less). Walk at whatever pace you want to. We start you off, and you can crawl along, or stride out. Talk to friends. Not talk. However you’re feeling. It’s okay with us.
Just one of the things we do here at Soulhub, the home of goodness. Founder Carmen Rendell, will be walking the British Isles coastline from 1 January 2020 (Sole2Soul) to raise awareness of walking for our mental and physical health. A walking therapist, Carmen is walking from Weston super Mare (where Carmen was born, grew up with two brothers, sister, mum and dad, played some hockey, bit of cello, and lived for 18 years before leaving for Loughborough Uni), going anti-clockwise around the coast. She will be joined by friends in villages and towns, hosting Soulwalks along the way.
Soulhub teamed up with Crabtree and Evelyn, to host 5 London Soulwalks (Richmond, Regents, Hyde Park, Greenwich, Hampstead Heath). Some walks had added flavour. Soulhubber Medicinal Herbalist Melinda McDougall shared her knowledge of the local plants in Richmond Park and how they could benefit our health. Lloyd Camp, Safari Guide shared stories from Africa on our Greenwich Park soulwalk.
Crabtree and Evelyn supporting by gifting a mini-goodie bag. Bhuti, Richmond yoga studio gave our Richmond walkers, a free yoga session.
We also partnered with Extract Coffee Roasters, and held Bristol Soulwalk (7 Nov 2019) where walkers enjoyed a coffee at Ka Fei in the city centre, and walked along the harbourside, whilst raising funds (through the payment donation) for their charity partners.
In December we joined forces with ‘Trees for Beauty’, and Delilah Sullivan. For each person who attended the mediation walk in the trees, a tree in Scotland was planted on their behalf. Perfect timing for Christmas.
Leaving Weston-super-Mare on 1 January this first stage took us to Porlock Weir.
On 12 February Carmen leaves Porlock to head west along the coast. Please check out ‘The Soulwalk Route‘ (as we organise dates for Feb & March) or email Carmen to organise one with her as she passes through your town/village.
‘An hours Soulwalk with Carmen, was simply the most wonderful experience. We combined our Soulwalk with the launch of a new coffee which was raising money for community projects. We were able to gentle and organically tell our story and the stories of our charity partners. The perfect opportunity to take a moment to connect with others, to be present and insert some much needed fresh air into our day. Thank you Carmen!’
