Take Sanctuary and Breathe for Life

For almost two months now I have been teaching Kundalini Yoga at The Breath of Life Sanctuary at the southern tip of Sri Lanka -A centre for inner peace, healing and rejuvenation

The centre has been integrated into the most magical unspoiled natural surroundings with utmost respect for the land and its inhabitants. With the turtle beach on one side and lagoon and mangrove on the other, we are amidst the most vibrant flora and fauna. Monkeys, peacocks, turtles, frogs, lizards, geckos, crabs, butterflies, cows and buffalos, chipmunks are just a few of the inhabitants of this magical place (not too mention a number of dogs and the odd cat).

What it means to connect

In order to expand in love and live an abundant and happy life, we have to connect with ourselves, others, nature, the whole of creation in a compassionate way, have patience and the courage to try new things without fearing failure. According to the Dalai Lama, the main purpose in life is to seek happiness.

This is what the Sanctuary is all about to help our guests through unique and personalised retreats to re-connect with their soul and get inspired to make positive life changes in order to live a healthy, happy, holy life.

Guests will experience a team of osteopaths and yoga teachers as well as local therapists, skilful chefs and knowledgeable Ayurvedic doctors.

What strikes me every morning when I do my yoga practice at the beach, is how healing nature can be and what a powerful teacher she is. The interconnectedness of the web of life is so much more tangible here than in our man-made environments back home. The Shamans would call this soul loss. We fail to see the bigger picture or divine order whilst feeling separated and finite, which leads to a fear based life of loss and scarcity.
