Gift: Wellbeing and Leadership Coach & Writer
Biography: Having spent decades in leadership, air traffic control and highly technical roles in aviation safety, Emma chose to leave this career behind to seek a future in nurturing and developing others and to author a number of books. She has lived the transformation she now coaches others through. Her life’s work has been around protecting others, understanding the human condition, observing how we behave under stress, and why we make the decisions and choices that we do. After formally training in Coaching Psychology, Emma decided to bring her business experience to the world of life and leadership coaching, supporting others in making transformational life changes in a safe and nurturing environment.
In contrast to her highly technical career, Emma began writing children’s poetry in her twenties as a hobby, and is currently co-authoring a book on Leadership in Times of Crisis as well as authoring two books of ‘soul stories’ – beautiful and unique tales of ordinary people doing extraordinary things . As someone who has personally lived through loss, chronic illness and trauma, Emma brings empathy and experience to her work, as well as passion, creativity and joy. Emma sees herself as a keeper of tales, listening deeply to people’s stories and helping them to write their next chapter.
In her personal life, Emma is a lioness for those she cares about, adventure-seeking with an insatiable appetite for learning, and believes all the world’s problems can be made better with a cup of tea. She is a dedicated cold-water swimmer currently training for an English Channel relay swim, and lives with her fire-fighter husband, 2 daughters, a deaf arthritic spaniel and 3 unidentifiable fish.
Why we love Emma: She’s just one of those humans who, when you meet her, you know she’s straight, considerate, open hearted and wants to do the right thing. She’s warm, humoured (as her smile shows) compassionate and knowledgeable. She’s spend decades of her life making her mark in an industry of choice, and has now discovered a new path, which she’s embracing with passion and dedication. She knows what it’s like to change careers, to make that big leap, and to trust yourself.
