Gift: A skilled and intuitive Body Mechanics Coach.
“You’re not something that’s the result of the big bang. You’re not something that’s a sort of a puppet on the end of the process. You are the process. You are the big bang, the original force of the universe, coming on as whoever you are.” Alan Watts
His Story: His own journey to reclaim his health; overcoming addiction, severe metabolic disease, chronic pain and mental health issues, has not surprisingly, informed his working style as a therapist. He spent many years going down the route of medicating his own problems, sticking to “conventional” western medical ideas, but to no avail. In desperation at his worsening condition, he took a deep breath, and dove into the complimentary world, specifically into a consistent multi-dimensional movement practice (yoga, CrossFit, martial arts), nutrition and several bodywork modalities, including Myofascial release and Medical Acupuncture.
The results were miraculous, a word he uses deliberately, to the point that he is now a different person. He succeeded in completely recalibrating his body, and above all, attained embodiment. Inspired by the changes
he experienced, he dove into training to become a therapist myself. He completed Remedial Massage, Yoga, CrossFit, Dry Needling, Kinesiology Taping and Mobility Qualifications. He felt a deep calling to “pay it forward,” to pass on the gift of embodiment to as many people as possible.
What do “embodiment” and “recalibration“ mean, and how does he help you get there?
Embodiment is simply what’s described above: working with Fabian, you’ll become deeply connected to your body again. You’ll tune in. The way you fuel your body, the way you carry yourself, the way you move will change. The way you see the world will change, your relationships will change, and because of this, you likely will begin making very different choices.
What about recalibration? What does this mean?
The lifestyle we lead today, particularly the amount of time we spend sitting is deeply unhealthy. Harvard Medical School has defined sitting as the “new smoking,” it wreaks such havoc on our bodies. It changes our position, it compromises our capacity to move correctly, through full range of motion, and perhaps most destructively, it compromises our capacity to breathe correctly. Over time, not surprisingly, this can lead to chronic orthopaedic and general health problems.
Bio: He discovered bodywork and movement in 2009 when he turned to the complimentary world for help in overcoming developmental trauma, addiction and chronic mental health problems. Inspired by the changes he saw himself in a short period of time, he left academia in 2011 and spent 18 months in Melbourne Australia, studying Remedial Massage Therapy at Endeavour College of Natural Health. During his training he worked with Victorian Premiership Rugby Union side Harlequin FC, and volunteered at the prestigious Windana Drug & Alcohol Recovery Centre.
Since returning to the UK in late 2012, he has worked with professional Rugby League Players at London Broncos/London Skolars, in physiotherapy and chiropractic clinics around London, as well as with corporate and private clients.
Fabian is qualified in Dry Needling (Medical Acupuncture), Kinesiology Taping (Rock Doc), and Instrument Assisted Massage Therapy (IASTM), which provides useful adjuncts to manual therapy. He’s also a qualified RYT 200hr Baptiste Yoga Teacher, Ready State Mobility Coach and Level 1 CrossFit Coach.
If you choose to work with Fabian, he will take you through a bespoke programme of sessions, combining Yoga, Mobility, strength work and soft tissue therapy. He will reset your body to correct anatomical position, teach you how to stand, sit, and set up your workstation correctly. He will teach you how to do preventative maintenance on your own body, and will create a custom mobility sequence for you that, done consistently, will mitigate and prevent the damage that our sedentary lifestyle does, as well as giving you a short, simple movement routine you can repeat “as needed.”
