We were guided through a personal care qigong practice with @flowinghealth today. One we can all do at any time for ourselves, which makes this even more special.

Thanks Alesandro for leading us and for everyone who showed up to try it. Many who didn’t really know what qigong was, and others who’d had little experience.

We feel blessed that Alessandro will be now sharing this with you. For those of you able to join, he’ll be teaching from 12.30pm at @studiokrichmond for 45 mins.

It’s a magical community we are blessed to hold, and the weekend was a sacred space for us to bring ourselves and experience life in its fullest expression.

On our own retreat.

This weekend is our first Soulhub Team Retreat. We’re heading to @asha_centre to absorb ourselves into the Forest of Dean and to get know each other better.

We are all looking forward to our time out, as individuals and as a collective. To deepen our connection, have fun, and explore life and wonder.

A day late…..But really is it? Given that a man takes his life every 40 minutes, every day we need to be supporting men.

International Men’s Day gives us the opportunity to raise the noise, as Kenny Mammarella-D’Cruz has done.

This very easy to get, but hard to hear animation asks us to celebrate the masculine parts of being a man - the good the (so called) bad and the beauty!

Launched for @menspeakgroups as this community provide a wonderful haven for men to gather and talk. To be heard, witnessed, understood and supported.

Tomorrow in the @the.independent Kenny’s is interviewed by Genevieve Roberts and says he believes that: “Men are in trouble: most are scared, lost, lonely boys wondering who they need to be so people like them.”

‘What started as a drop-in group in his living room has expanded worldwide: MenSpeak, a non-profit community, helps thousands of people annually and Mammarella-D’Cruz has trained more than 100 facilitators. He hopes @menspeakgroups will soon become as accessible as Alcoholics Anonymous and in January 2024 he’s launching a training programme for NHS and council workers.

With male suicide rates standing at 15.8 per 100,000 men, triple that of women, the groups offer crucial connection. “There’s never been more need for people to listen and share experiences, whether of loneliness, grief or mental health problems,” he says. 

Many men feel they are inherently bad 
Slugs, snails and puppy dogs’ tails have a lot to answer for, according to Mammerella-D’Cruz. “From a very young age, boys and men are depicted as wrong and bad, dirty, dangerous and perverted, powerful and unruly,” he says. “Boys have been easily humiliated, or abandoned, into good behaviour.” 

Bertie Harriman-Smith, 30, a videographer in London who’s been going to men’s groups for seven years, says: “My mum would ask: ‘What’s the point of men? They just ruin things’. I felt shame; that being a man was bad.”.

Every other Wednesday, soon to be Tuesdays as more

Every other Wednesday, soon to be Tuesdays as more employees are in the offices on Tuesdays, we hold our Soulwalk with the ebay UK team.

Whatever the weather, whatever is going on, we all show up. Because taking 30-45 mins at lunchtime to get away from the lists, emails, phone and productivity, to find a peaceful space within our heads and lives.

It’s not rocket science but we’re simply not machines that can work all hours. Our systems need time to rebalance, to decompress. To recharge. And if we do it on a daily or regular basis the system doesn’t combust!!!

On our Soulwalks we bring something different each time for people to feel or explore. We often see some revelation, big or small, to help with self awareness.

And as we left, @nutripsyence arrives to give guidance and support to individuals for their food and nutritional balance.

Thanks @ebay_uk for giving your teams time for them, which is more important than any final sales figure. You can’t run a businesses if you don’t have healthy people.

Our runners today are facing a long recovery from covid (be gentle on the lungs) and new to running 🏃‍♀️.

They’ve made time to get away from their desks for a gentle 30 min, stop and start session down along the river.

The running club has been a little slow to get going. We want this session to be accessible for all, and especially for those who rarely run, are now to running and running and want to give it a go.

These are often people who aren’t ready to join a running club, or fear it. It can be scary, so we’re super glad to be able to offer these sessions for free to local employees.

When our attention goes to the external reward we give away part of us. We make them more important than us. We make the wider world significantly more valuable.

When we do the work we do finding either the ‘right’ reasons or the internal reasons gives us a contentment no external applause can ever meet.

The applause has no foundation. It can be pulled away with a comment, in a moment and with no reason. Would you build your house on sand? No.

Imagine no-one ever saw the work you do, and how you do it. No praise, no likes, no bonus, no recognition.

This is powerful. This is fulfilment. This is an internal dial that warms our hearts, and validates from within.

Try it. You might find that when you’re not looking for the applause that the very job you do falls away or your relationship with it changes.

And you might like it more, and indeed yourself more….

Some of our best events happen in the rain. When we think it’s too miserable out there, and yet when we get out, we realise we can tell ourselves a different story.

We hosted a lovely Be Well Walk for @berichmonduk today along the riverside. The water was flowing past us, and drizzling on us, as the draw (open gates to let all the tides in and out), followed us along the tow path.

We all come for different reasons. To connect with our neighbours, to relieve boredom, to balance our mental health, to inspire ideas, to get some exercise.

And we all leave a little bit fuller in our hearts and less congested in our minds.

This morning we held our regular 10 min meditation for @ebay_uk to give colleagues a moments breath before the day really kicks in.

It’s part of their ‘Get ebay talking’ campaign. Together we’re offering Soulwalks, meditations, and 1-1 sessions with @nutripsyence as we look holistically at our mind, body and spirit.

It’s such important work right now. We don’t need to tell you that. But finding 10 mins for many, is near impossible.

Learning to ‘manage our energy’ can only be done if we know our starting points by and can tune into how we’re feeling.
